Principal's Message

A Message from Dr. Osmond

Dear Parents and Families,

This has been an exciting start to the 2019-2020 School year; it is hard to believe the first marking period is over!  This is such an amazing community. As is evidenced at each well attended and supported event.  So far, our PTA has had many wonderful evening events such as BINGO night, and Grandparents Night.  They have supported an amazing Boosterthon experience for our students and with your support; we were able to exceed our goal!  These funds will go toward school beautification.  Also with the support of our families and student leaders, we were able to raise $2,850 donated to the United Way to support those impacted by Hurricane Dorian.

Our School Advisory Council has also had a wonderful turnout that is a great benefit to our school. The strong bond between parents and school family is a wonderful thing for our students. This year they voted on funds that will be used to pay for our annual STEM night.  This will be an exciting event and we know our students look forward to it every year!

We continue to do well academically.  Our students are consistently demonstrate proficiency on the FSA and iReady assessments.  We have been named a School of Excellence for the 19-20 school year.  This is our third year with this accolade.  We are continuing to work on pushing our students in order to support their growth.  It is important that we partner together in this process.  As we develop learners with increased grit the productive struggle that students experience may be uncomfortable, however the results of this will be evident in their ability to push through difficult tasks and own their accomplishments.

This year our amazing teachers are focusing on creating differentiated standards based centers in reading to meet the needs of each student in their class.  We are excited to see the results and the relationships built as teachers are able to spend more time with each student.  As always, the teachers at Moss Park work hard to teach the whole child and engage them in learning activities meant to stretch them as they learn and grow.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Moss Park, where Eagles SOAR.

 Dr. Osmond
