Principal's Message

A Message from Dr. Osmond

I want to wish you all the best as we start the 2020-2021 school year.  While this year may look different than in years past, one thing remains the same.  The Moss Park teachers and staff are so excited to meet their students and are ready to provide excellent instruction.

Your child’s teacher should already have made contact with you so that you are ready to login tomorrow and begin the instructional day at 8:45.  As noted in previous communication, you will not be penalized for missing the first nine days of school, however, once you begin attending, absences will be counted.  If you have any questions regarding attendance, please call the front office.

Your child’s teacher is the best point of contact if you encounter any problems as the program gets started.  If you have not done so already, there is also a link on the OCPS website to help you better understand our [email protected] platform. It is a great resource if you have questions.  For those families moving to face-to-face instruction beginning Aug. 21, we will share more information as the date gets closer.  Please pay close attention to all email communication as it will contain important information.

Daily schedules can be found on the Moss Park Web page under each grade level.  This should help you navigate your child’s virtual day.  Please note that the first 9 days are designed to work through any issues, please be flexible with your teachers and your students as move through this.

Device Pick up:  We received our new devices on Thursday and were able to pass out over 400 devices to grades 2-5 on Friday night and Saturday.  Special Thanks to our volunteers for supporting the endeavor! This week we will be passing out K-1 iPads and any consumables via the grab n go method in the bus loop in two shift 9-11 and 1-3.  Kinder will be Tuesday and First grade –Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday will be a makeup opportunity via appointment for all grades and consumables.  A link will be sent later.  *** Please note, if you are Face 2 Face you will get a device and consumables on 8/21.

Food Services: Starting Monday Aug. 10 and each Monday during our [email protected] program, curbside meals will be available in the bus loop for pick-up from 3:30 until 5:00.  Students will be charged based on their current meal benefits, whether that be paid full price, paid reduced price or free.  Each bag will contain 5 breakfasts and 5 lunches.  A student ID number must be presented and those needing to pay for lunch should do so on school pay.  Please drive the “Wrong way” through the bus loop with the driver’s side facing the pavilion.

We understand this is going to be a new way of learning and teaching for all of us, and we will do our best to make this transition as easy as possible.  Together we will face this challenge with the hope that we will all be back learning and growing together in our school building sooner.  In the meantime, we ask for your patience as we work together to ensure a successful start to the year.
